Terms used in LoudGears and in these docs.

TermMeaning
Angular torqueThe twisting moment applied to the wheel in the load case, in N·m. Shown as wheel or drive torque in results and reports.
Applied load caseThe loads that were actually applied to a specific run. Shown on its result page.
B-RepBoundary representation: the exact surfaces and edges of your CAD model, as opposed to the analysis mesh.
CreditThe unit that pays for a verified analysis. Reserved when a run is queued, consumed by a verified result, released otherwise.
DeviceA workstation with an activated ForgeNode. Your plan limits how many can be active.
DisplacementHow far a point on the wheel moves under load, in mm.
Fitment GuideThe vehicle database LoudGears uses to supply load cases by make, model, and year range.
Fitment snapshotThe vehicle and load case saved to a project and bound to its next analysis.
ForgeNodeThe LoudGears Windows app that prepares geometry and runs the solver on your workstation.
HotspotA location of locally high stress. The viewer marks the top five.
Manual overrideLoad and torque values you enter to replace the Fitment load case.
Operation IDThe identifier of one analysis run. Quote it when contacting support.
PCDPitch circle diameter: the diameter of the circle through the wheel's bolt holes.
Radial loadThe force pressing on the wheel in the load case, in N.
ResidualA measure of how closely the solver converged. A numerical quality check, not the verdict.
Result fingerprintA fingerprint of the signed result. If any value changed, the hash would not match.
RevisionOne version of a wheel design within a project, with its own analysis runs.
Rear-wheel discountHalf price for the rear wheel of a front/rear pair with matching outer diameter (within 1.5%) and spoke count.
Staggered fitmentFront and rear wheels of different widths or sizes. LoudGears analyses both wheels of such a pair from one file.
RouteThe analysis configuration a run uses: Standard (GPU, 5 mm) or CPU Standard (CPU, 5 mm).
Run input fingerprintA fingerprint of a run's inputs. Identical inputs give the same fingerprint.
Safety factorThe simplified yield strength divided by the von Mises stress at a point. The verdict requires a minimum of 3.0 for 6061-T6 aluminium and 2.5 for AZ80A-T6 magnesium.
Signed numerical summaryThe verified values of a result that LoudGears stores in the cloud: verdict, extremes, residual, and hashes.
IGESAn older CAD exchange format (.igs, .iges); ForgeNode converts it to a solid before the analysis.
Parasolid X_TThe text export of the Parasolid modelling kernel (.x_t, .xt); ForgeNode rebuilds it as an exact solid before the analysis.
STEPA standard CAD exchange format (.step, .stp).
Tet10A 10-node tetrahedral finite element, used for the LoudGears analysis mesh.
VerdictFEA PASSED, FEA FAILED, or FEA review required, decided by the minimum safety factor.
Von Mises stress (VM)A single equivalent stress value that combines all stress components at a point, in MPa.
