ForgeNode

Activate and connect

After installing ForgeNode, you link the workstation to your LoudGears workspace once. After that, the Web app finds ForgeNode automatically whenever both are open.

Activate the license

  1. Make sure dependency setup is complete. See Install ForgeNode.
  2. On the ForgeNode dashboard, choose Activate License. ForgeNode opens a secure activation page in your default browser.
  3. Sign in if asked. The page activates this workstation automatically and shows License activated.
  4. Return to ForgeNode. The dashboard badge changes to CLOUD READY or ONLINE, and License activation under SYSTEM READINESS shows as active.

If the page says This activation link has expired, go back to ForgeNode and choose Activate License again. ForgeNode creates a fresh session each time.

Each activated workstation uses one device seat from your plan. See Plans and credits.

Check the connection in the Web app

Open the workspace. The status bar at the top reports the local ForgeNode:

StatusMeaning
ForgeNode ConnectedThe browser has a working session with ForgeNode on this workstation. You can run analyses.
ForgeNode Health OnlyForgeNode is running, but it is not accepting work from this browser right now. For example, the license check has not finished, the workstation must be restarted after hibernation, or the session could not be opened. Check the ForgeNode dashboard.
ForgeNode UnavailableForgeNode is not running on this workstation, or the browser cannot reach it.
Checking ForgeNode…The check is still in progress.

The project page also shows Available routes, for example CPU 5 mm and GPU 5 mm, for the connected workstation.

Note CLOUD READY in ForgeNode means the license is active. It does not by itself mean the browser on this workstation is connected. Always check the status in the Web app.

Allow local access in the browser

The Web app talks to ForgeNode through a local connection on the same workstation. The first time you start an analysis, the project page may show Enable local ForgeNode access instead of Add to FEA queue.

  1. Choose Enable local ForgeNode access.
  2. When the browser asks whether LoudGears may access apps and services on this device, choose Allow.
  3. The button changes to Add to FEA queue.

No geometry is sent anywhere until this check succeeds. If you blocked the prompt by mistake, allow local network access for loudgears.com in your browser's site settings, then choose Retry local ForgeNode access.

Use the right workstation

Analyses run on the ForgeNode that is connected to the browser you are using. To run on a different workstation, open the Web app in a browser on that workstation.

Registered workstations are listed under Account & billing → Manage your devices. Remove a workstation there when you retire it, to free its seat.
